Wells Williams has been fortunate to work in some of the most beautiful places in the country.
Comfortable in both large cities and rural areas, he grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. His planning career started as an intern with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission.
Positions as City Planner in Wyoming and City Administrator in northeast Nebraska taught him to appreciate small towns. When the opportunity to move to Alaska surfaced, he took it. He and his wife moved to Palmer ( outside of Anchorage ) in the dead of winter. The last 26 years have been spent as Planning Director of the City and Borough of Sitka, Alaska. The City and Borough includes 4,600 square miles, has a rich history, and is located in a coastal rain forest.
Williams has a proven record in obtaining grants for infrastructure projects, designing GIS projects, comprehensive planning, land use codes, and industrial park redevelopment. Accomplished at facilitating public meetings, he is committed to the public process.
